Membership

Do you like to Ride? Join our club with an Individual Membership or invite immediate family for the Family Membership. Each Membership is valid for one year but must be renewed annually.

There are many benefits of being a Huntington Bicycle Club member, including:

  • Organized rides every weekend, multiple weekdays and holidays all year long.
  • 10 to 15% discounts for members at most local bike shops.
  • 20% discount on a RWGPS Premium annual subscription.
  • Supplemental ride insurance on club rides thru LAB (League of American Bicyclists).
  • Group participation at many offsite rides in the tri-state area.
  • Workshops and technical assistance available throughout the year.

Dues

Individual Membership: $30/year

Family Membership: $40/year

Meetings

 

The club usually meets on the first week of each month (except December, January, and February). Our meetings are at the Harborfields Public Library at 7:00 PM. We serve pizza, water and coffee at all club meetings. Check on the website for the exact dates. We hope to see you at the next meeting.

HBC members have various other Interest beside just road cycling. These include: Pickleball, Off Road Cycling, Indoor Cycling, Water Sports, Snow Sports, Hiking and Ride Leading.

Ride Signup

Ride signup is required to participate in HBC club rides. The ride season runs continuously all year long..

On the Ride Calendar, click on the ride you are interested in. Click the I'm Riding button and complete your ride registration.

You must be a logged in member to sign up for a ride.

Ride Categories


The following link shows a chart for HBC Ride Max Speed on the Flats, in mph, and the Category Description

This chart is a guideline for HBC group ride categories. Ride leaders use these guidelines when planning their rides. If you are new to group riding, select a lower ability level until you have more experience riding with the club.

This app contains the entire website, lets you sign up for rides and Chat with other riders of your ride level.
Download the HBC ClubExpress Mobile App today at the App Store or Google Play,
Search for "ClubExpress"
Log in using your email address and password.

Note: Chat Notifications can only be set up after the app has been downloaded, either by the member or the webmaster. Select which ride level Chat Channels and/of Forums you want to join during the signup process. Alternately, email the webmaster and let him know. We have an A, B+, B and C Chat Channels.

HBC Forums


Since the fall of 2023 we changed our email hosting from GoDaddy to ClubExpress, our Forums now use an email address for postings. The Executive Board has been using this method on a regular basis for their Forum and it has been proven to be very easy and effective to use. It is like a separate email group.
Basically, all you have to do in order to post in a Forum, is send an email to the Forum email address.  


You can go to your Profile and set your Forum Preferences and Forum Membership to join most of these Forums.
Or let the webmaster know if you would like to join a Forum by emailing him directly any time at:
webmaster@hbcli.org

HBC E-Bike Policy

The terms e-bike and electric bike are being applied to a wide variety of bicycles that contain an electric motor. The motor provides assistance either when the rider is pedaling or via a throttle. Click below for our e-bike policy.


Pothole Reporting

 

Everyone hates potholes.  They can turn a wonderful route into a miserable experience.  They cause blown tires and damaged wheels.  Every year club members are injured and hospitalized by pothole encounters.

Fortunately, all towns have a process to report potholes, and most of the time they will make repairs within a few days of a complaint.

So its up to us to file reports to have any chance of seeing this situation improve, especially with potholes that are dangerous to cyclists but not cars, such as deep narrow trenches, potholes in shoulders, broken up pavement, etc
